Passion week Good Friday

Good Friday is the day that God — who made each of us — bore our sins so we could be forgiven and freed. How can we even begin to express the gratitude, love and praise we feel in response to what Christ has done for us on the cross?

Take a moment to quiet your heart and reflect with God on this perfect love.

Passion week Monday

In Passion Week, Jesus prepared to take the wrath of Judgment Day for all of us. He knew what was coming and made the ultimate sacrifice. Jesus wasn’t surprised. He was obedient – even to death on a cross!
Join in prayer and approach the cross with a renewed sense of awe, humility and gratitude.

Palm Sunday

Zachariah 9:9 Rejoice  greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O  daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King  cometh unto thee: he is just, and having  salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass,  and upon a colt the foal of an ass. 10 And  I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and  the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle  bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak  peace unto the heathen: and his dominion  shall be from sea  even to sea, and from  river even to the ends of the earth.  11 As  for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant  I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the  pit wherein is no water.  12 Turn you to  the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even  to day do I declare that I will render  double unto thee;
Let’s begin our celebration of Easter Passion Week by thinking of Jesus’ humble entry to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. No other king could arrive to conquer warhorses and warriors while humbly riding on the foal of a donkey. No other king could break the backbone of all warfare by the brokenness of the cross.

Deepen your reflection on Christ’s passion through this two minute audio prayer. Marvel and wonder at God’s plan, and thank Him for the richness of His grace.

God’s guidance system

In Matthew 6:22-24, Jesus tells us the impact when God has our whole heart,

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

While it may not seem like it, Jesus is talking about the heart.

As we learned in our previous devotionals, if you give to God, and give for the right reasons, God has your heart. Your heart belongs to Him. When God has your heart, He can lead you; because that is how God leads, He leads through your heart.

That’s really what this illustration is about. That is what He means by, “The lamp of the body is the eye.”

Think about the difference light makes when trying to walk on a narrow, craggy path. When light comes into your eye, you can see your way. Your eyes, when the light is able to come in, are a built-in guidance system, aren’t they?

Well, you know what? You have a guidance system God uses to lead you. That guidance system is called your heart. If God has your treasure, He has your heart. But God can’t lead you through your heart if He doesn’t have your heart.

If God has your heart, then He can begin to lead you. You can go anywhere He tells you to go. And interestingly enough, the loyalty of our heart is expressed through our giving. Giving and guidance tied together? According to Jesus…definitely!

God has it all covered

Isaiah 49:13 Sing,  O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and  break forth into singing, O mountains: for  the Lord hath comforted his people, and  will have mercy upon his afflicted. 14 But  Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and  my Lord hath forgotten me. 15 Can a  woman forget her sucking child, that she  should not have compassion on the son of  her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I  not forget thee. 16 Behold, I have graven  thee upon the palms of my hands; thy  walls are continually before me.
When we are confronted with problems, we might think God has forgotten us. Thoughts comes to mind to weaken our heart, even the devil ceases opportunity to feed us with diverse lies, through it all do not forget that God has you in mind.

I love this hymn, “what a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grieves to bear, what a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer”. Everything to God in prayer, means whatever, simple situation, complex situation, your secret, your fear, your worry, EVERYTHING to God in prayer.

God’s love is everlasting, never changing, upholding and lifting. Its power is always there to work for us. Do not permit the devil to stress you unnecessarily with worry. Anxiety does not solve a problem, it drains your ability to solve the problem. A popular saying is “HAKUNA MATATA” means “Don’t Worry”. Relax in God. God is bigger than that problem, he is bigger than your questions, bigger than any mountain, you can or cannot see.

A song rings in my heart whenever worry comes and it works for me;

Why worry? When you can pray

Trust in Jesus and he will lead the way

Don’t be a doubting Thomas

Just keep on trusting Jesus

Why worry, worry, worry?

When you can pray.

Prayer is being emphasized upon here. My Father in the Lord once told me never to underestimate the power of Prayer. Prayer is the key, it is the master key. Take it all to God in prayer and leave it all to him knowing he cares for you, and see God stand for you. Don’t forget to appreciated him for his Love, Care and Mercy. Hallelujah.

Onward Christian soldiers

John 9:4 “I must  work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.”
The slogan for Nigerian Student Union Government is “Aluta Continua, Victoria Ascerta, which means Struggle continues, Victory is sure. The amazing thing is despite that they are students in the institution of learning they sing “inside aluta gentleman no dey”. Similarly, Brethren in the spiritual sense of grabbing your destiny to work for God there is no gentleman. It is a Soldier’s call. A soldier does not fight because he wants to, he does not obey command because he doesn’t have a choice neither does he embark on a mission for his life or promotion. Its a must that a soldier completes his mission, else he is not qualified to be a soldier. Some die fighting and are given heroic funeral. Some fight well at the beginning and end up losers, Some complete the mission successfully and are promoted.
Christian, are you in the mission the commander placed you? Battles are here and there to fight, battles meant to stop you on your mission, the ministry God placed into your hands. As spiritual soldiers, we must take our stand in faith and obedience to our commander.

2Timothy 2:3. “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4. No man that warreth entangleth  himself with the affairs of this life; that he  may please him who hath chosen him to  be a soldier.
A soldier is focused on the battle at hand; if he becomes friends with the enemy, then he has betrayed the battalion. Set your spirit, soul and body on the mission at hand.

Now is the time to stand up and do the works of Him that sent you. Oh! are you still doubtful of your ministry? Arise and be the vessel God wants you to be. A vessel honour in the hands of the Lord of the heavens and earth.

Point of Prayer: Help me, Lord Jesus Christ to be a soldier, to fight and overcome the battles in life to fulfilling my mission. Amen.

The End has begun. (II)

Matthew 24: 4  And Jesus answered and said unto them,  Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For  many shall come in my name, saying, I am  Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye  shall hear of wars and rumours of wars:  see that ye be not troubled: for all these  things must come to pass, but the end is  not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against  nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and  there shall be famines, and pestilences,  and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All  these are the beginning of sorrows.
Welcome to the second part of this topic. Did you miss the first part? Do click here. The signs of the End-time are manifesting. There are so many happenings here and there which Jesus Christ foretold as the beginning of sorrow, he also described worse incidents as the beginning of the End-time.

Brethren, we don’t need a prophet to tell us it has all began. The recession or not, famine and pestilence are the trends it has been foretold by our Lord Jesus Christ that these things will happen. Betrayal is everywhere; in marriages, among siblings, with colleagues, peers, with friends. There is no one to trust or rely on. Hateful and a selfish generation. Yes i say its a selfish generation, because we no longer concern ourselves with other people’s feelings, without knowing we just develop hatred towards someone, a creation of God. Lovers of money, money is good, infact it controls, these days some ministers of God, that is, Preachers, song ministers, drama ministers only perform where they can be blessed financially. Killings here and there, Nations against Nation, where in the world is safe from killings. Which nation’s security system can boost of safety for its citizens.
According to the words of Jesus christ in Matthew 24, these are just the beginning of sorrows, before the beginning of the End. What shall it profit a man if he gains the world and loses his soul.
This is a wake-up call. Wake up, prepare, that your soul might rejoice when the bridegroom arrives. Remember the parable of the Ten virgins, five were wise enough to be prepared for the arrival of the bridegroom, five were unsuspecting.

Now is the time to prepare if you have not done that. O virgin, put oil in your lamp, for the bridegroom is almost here. Meet him with your lamp burning.

Point of prayer: Give me the grace to keep burning for you Lord and to watch out against deceptions of the last days. Amen.
